The Countdown Begins!

It's hard to believe in 2 short weeks the A-P Summer Lunch Program will have it's official kickoff. I am super excited to be a part of this program. I hope to see a lot of kids take advantage of a free meal this summer. I am truly believe we can make a difference in the lives of kids and teens who would otherwise go hungry during the summer, through no fault of their own. I will do whatever I can to ensure each person who comes through our program is treated with respect and feels welcome.

With that being said, I understand there are a few community members who disagree with this program and they are entitled to their opinion. I encourage those of you who have doubts or are unsure what the program is about, to please reach out and contact me. I will be happy to answer your questions to the best of my ability.

If you have doubts about tax dollars being used, think of it this way. We all pay taxes. We do not get to choose where our tax dollars go. I want my tax dollars go to my community doing something good like feeding children and teens, rather than be used to house criminals in jail cells not contributing to society. I want to give the kids a sense of belonging and know that I truly care for their wellbeing, regardless of who they are.

As a community, I hope we can all work together to give our kids a sense of stability, even if it is for one meal.
